VLIR-UOS supports partnerships between universities and university colleges, in Flanders and in the South, looking for innovative responses to global and local challenges. And we do this by stimulating cooperation projects between professors, researchers and teachers. But also by giving scholarships to students and professionals in Flanders and the South and/or supporting and strengthening higher education in the South as well as global development-based internationalisation of higher education in Flanders.
The education sector is a broad one. Because VVOB wants its results to be both impactful and sustainable, we make choices. We focus on the professional development of teachers and on effective school leadership in four educational subsectors, by developing the capacity of local education actors.
The University Centre for Development Cooperation (UCOS) is a recognised Belgian NGO which aims to strengthen the global citizenship skills among students in higher education. We work together with our partners and our target audience to achieve sustainable human development by promoting global conscience and active global citizenship, often in relation to North-South student mobility. UCOS is affiliated to the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, but cooperates with all institutions of Flemish higher education.
11.11.11 is the coalition of NGOs, unions, movements and various solidarity groups in Flanders (Dutch speaking Northern part of Belgium). It combines the efforts of about 60 organizations and more than 20,000 volunteers, who work together to achieve one common goal: a fair world without poverty.
Om de 4de Pijler te ondersteunen werd in januari 2009 een 4de Pijlersteunpunt opgericht. Het steunpunt kreeg vorm vanuit een samenwerking tussen het toenmalige Vlaamse Agentschap voor Internationale Samenwerking (VAIS) en de koepel van de Vlaamse Noord-Zuidbeweging (11.11.11). Het 4de Pijlersteunpunt is nu ondergebracht bij 11.11.11 en ontvangt jaarlijks een werkingssubsidie van de Afdeling Mondiale uitdagingen van het Departement Internationaal Vlaanderen.

More than a quarter of worldwide greenhouse gases emissions come from the transportation sector, and more important, it is the sector where we have seen the highest growth in these emissions the last decades and it is not stopping. EcoPassenger does not only calculate the energy or the fuel it takes to run the train, car or the plane. The calculations include the emissions from the cumulative energy consumption, including the energy used to produce the electricity or the fuel, in a “well to wheel”-perspective
